Artemis was a Greek goddess, daughter or Zeus, sister of Apollo, and bow and arrow toting deity of hunting, wild animals and the wilderness.
It’s perhaps apt then that NASA have used this namesake for their next mission to one of the greatest unexplored wildernesses they have access to; the surface of the moon.
The mission intends to lead the way to the possibility of astronauts living in naturally formed lava tubes on the lunar surface.
This new mission would not have even been possible of course without the pioneering exploration of Apollo 15.
The use of stainless steel, along with titanium and aluminium, formed an integral part of the construction for the command module and the lunar module of that early space vehicle. These material gave the capsules the necessary strength and rigidity to cope with landing on the moons surface.
At DSM we haven’t made any space craft of late, but we have recently launched our new range of bespoke stainless steel Drinking Fountain which we can make to any design, to fit any space.
