What a car! This BMW M2 has been tuned within an inch of it’s life by the German tuner Manhart with it’s new MH2 GTR. It wasn’t too shabby before Manhart got it’s hands on it either, with a brilliant chassis and a very capable powertrain. This resulting beauty was quite rightly rewarded with Evo’s overall 2020 Car of the Year award.
Underneath the bonnet you’ll find the BMW’s 3-litre twin-turbocharged S55 straight-six, but thanks to a variety of additions such as an uprated intercooler, a carbon fibre intake, upgraded turbochargers and an ECU tune, output has been significantly increased. Manhart quote peak figures of 592bhp and 612lb ft of torque, making it 148bhp and 206lb ft more potent than standard.
Also contributing to some smaller performance gains is an all new stainless steel exhaust system (you can see it on the images), with redesigned downpipes and more free-flowing 300-cell catalytic converters. Some software tweaks were also made to the ECU, improving the throttle response and finessing the power delivery. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission also being sharpened through its own software recalibration.
